Brad Paisley Sets the Tone for Valentine’s Day
By Fanny Lau
There was love in the air at Rogers Arena on Sunday night, as Brad Paisley brought his Crushin’ It World Tour to the Pepsi Live stage, setting the tone for Valentine’s Day for country music fans.
In true country fashion, opener Eric Paslay stepped onstage with a baseball cap, plaid shirt, and blue jeans – kicking off his set with “Song About a Girl” from his self-titled debut album. Paslay reminisced about his days in Nashville working on his debut, before launching into his last single from that very record, “She Don’t Love You”. In addition to his own material, Paslay played energetic covers of The Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction” and Eli Young’s “Even If You Break Your Heart”.
Brad Paisley is no stranger to the stage at Rogers Arena, having played here a number of times during his career, and fans were enthusiastic to have him back. All the stops were pulled in adding Canadian flair to the night, including a few guitar chords of our national anthem during “Moonshine” and a reel of Vancouver Canucks highlights on the big screen behind Paisley.

Eric Paslay joined Paisley onstage at two points of the evening, supporting him for “Celebrity” and “Waitin’ on a Woman”. The stage was complete with a bar onstage where a mascot version of Brad Paisley made a few appearances throughout the night, as well as a number of lucky fans. The catwalk of the stage extended into the shape of an anchor, where Paisley spent a lot of facetime with fans.
The connection between Paisley and his fans remained strong the entire evening, as they surrounded the anchor-shaped stage in two general admission areas. Shortly after the introduction of “This is Country Music”, Paisley paused the music to sign the very guitar he was playing before handing it to a very lucky fan in the pit, before resuming the song. Paisley later walked past the crowd to get to the second stage on the other side of the arena, with a screen appearance by Carrie Underwood for their duet of “Remind Me”.
It was a night anchored by the love of country music, and Brad Paisley fans were undoubtedly satisfied by the show presented to them.
