The Weeknd [PREVIEW]

Fresh off of winning two awards at this past weekend’s American Music Awards, The Weeknd is bringing The Madness Tour to Pepsi Live at Rogers Arena on December 2nd with guests Travi$ Scott and Halsey.
It has been a meteoric year for The Weeknd with the release of his sophomore record, Beauty Behind The Madness. The album has produced a number of hit singles including “I Can’t Feel My Face” and “The Hills” and also earned The Weeknd—real name, Abel Tesfaye—two American Music Awards for Favourite Soul/R&B Male Artist and Favourite Soul/R&B Album. For a kid from Scarborough, Tesfaye is making a mark in the music industry with his smooth vocals.
After the release of his debut album, Kiss Land, in 2013, Tesfaye knew he wanted to go big or go home. He enlisted the help of one of pop music’s finest – Max Martin, to work on his sophomore record. Martin and his team are responsible for refining and redefining some of the biggest pop albums in recent years—including Taylor Swift’s 1989. The result of Tesfaye and Martin’s collaboration on Beauty is as autobiographical as it is radio-friendly, with critics drawing comparison to Michael Jackson.
Supporting the Vancouver show will be Houston rapper Travi$ Scott and electropop singer-songwriter Halsey. Scott has collaborated with the likes of Kanye West, 2 Chainz, Big Sean and The 1975, and has received positive attention for his live show— noted for its energy and passion. Halsey is no stranger to the stage at Rogers Arena, as she opened for Imagine Dragons earlier this year. She was also recently featured on a track on Justin Bieber’s new album, Purpose.
